NORCROSS, Ga. – Career Pathways is now open for enrollment at James Madison High School, the No. 1 best high school online for 2018 according to Best College Reviews. The brand new online high school program is aimed at affordable workforce preparation that coincides with a standard high school curriculum.

“Career Pathways is open to any student who can benefit from job skills training during high school,” said Principal Megan Bowen. “We’ve focused on popular trade, allied healthcare, and small business concepts for our first 10 pathway certificates. There’s something for everyone who wants to enter one of these high-demand fields after high school.”

The program takes the school’s typical 23-credit-hour general high school diploma program and sharpens its focus by exchanging two general electives for career-focused courses. JMHS students are able to explore their choice of 10 specialized career paths without additional semesters, credit hours, or study time. Upon graduation, students receive an accredited general high school diploma and a Career Pathways certificate to signify successful completion of a vocational study area.

“This is a fantastic new program for career-focused high school students,” said Chief Academic Officer Christine Jax. “Teen and adult students alike will gain valuable job skills that they can use to help prepare for careers after graduation. Not everyone wants or needs to continue to post-secondary school, and we are proud to offer a truly affordable and flexible path for their career development.”

Career Pathways programs are available for carpentry, child care, electrical, event planning, medical billing & coding, medical office assisting, pharmacy assisting, plumbing, sterile processing, and veterinary assisting. Graduates of the veterinary assisting Career Pathways program will be eligible to transfer six credit hours into the Ashworth College veterinary assisting career diploma program to expedite further career training in this high-demand field.
