NORCROSS, Ga. – Statistically, single parent female-headed households are among the poorest in the nation. When Tamara Esquivel-Hernandez found herself single and pregnant, she could have given up on the idea of graduating from high school but she didn't. In November of 2012, Tamara enrolled in James Madison High School, which gave her the option of continuing her education without leaving home. That was only her first step towards beating the odds.
