Graduating from high school is a big milestone and it deserves to be celebrated! Whether you’re a traditional student graduating on time or a little early, or an adult learner who just had the opportunity to complete their high school diploma, you’ve accomplished something huge. As an online high school graduate, though, you may not be sure how to celebrate your success. But did you know that James Madison High School has a graduation ceremony that allows you to share your achievement with family, friends, teachers, and fellow grads? Here’s everything you should know to prepare for the 2020 ceremony.

When and where is the 2020 Graduation Ceremony held?

The James Madison High School graduation is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Doors will open at 10AM EST and more details about the schedule of events will be available closer to the big day. Make sure to keep your eyes on Facebook, your email inbox, and our graduation information site for updates!

Who can attend the JMHS graduation?

Graduates from any year are welcome to join us at the ceremony in June! However, there are a few requirements that need to be met before you get there. To cross the stage this year, students need to have

  • Successfully finished all academic requirements by May 1, 2020. You should have passed all classes you were required to take, as well as assignments or projects.
  • Confirmed with Graduation Services at 1-800-232-3204 before May 1, 2020.
  • Registered for the ceremony and purchased your cap and gown.

If you’re still making payments on your tuition, no worries—you don’t need to be paid-in-full to attend graduation. The event is ceremonial so your official diploma will be sent to the mailing address on file when you’ve completed your tuition payments.

What to expect at the 2020 JMHS Graduation.

This year, graduates from James Madison, Ashworth College, and Penn Foster Education will gather from all over the country—and the world—to celebrate their graduation and walk the stage in front of their supporters. Mohegan Sun Arena has held large-scale events from local college graduations to huge concerts like Elton John, and graduates and guests will fill the stadium, so make sure to register and purchase your tickets for the event as soon as possible!

You also want to make sure that, if you’re traveling from out of town, you have a place to stay, so don’t forget to book a hotel! You’ll find more information about where the graduation is being held, hotel suggestions, and more in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the graduation information site!

Is attending graduation mandatory?

The graduation ceremony isn’t mandatory for students. Whether you attend the 2020 graduation or celebrate at home, you’re a JMHS graduate. After successfully completing your classes and paying your tuition in full, you’ll receive your diploma and transcripts in the mail. But attending your graduation ceremony can be the event of a lifetime, a celebration of your hard work, and the next step toward your future—whatever it holds. We can’t wait to meet all of you!
