JMHS Teacher Profile - Suzan Thompson

This month we spoke to Suzan Thompson about her role at James Madison High School.

What do you teach at James Madison HS?

I teach English Language Arts (Specifically English IV classes).

If you were not a teacher, what would you do?

I would be a writer or an editor.

What is the one important life lesson you'd like your students to know?

Remember that it is the challenges we face that make us champions. Without challenges, one will never know one's own strength.

If you could meet any historical figure, who would it be?

Frederick Douglass

I would have loved to have met Frederick Douglass. I find his tenacity to succeed to be truly amazing. His ambition to learn and to be more than average is something I wish to inspire within my students and within my own children.

If you were to create a slogan of your life, what would it be?

Change is constant; inevitable, like the weather or the seasons—but as life's seasons change, I change for the better.
